Patna: Bihar have taken a commanding position against Tripura in the final match of the Vijay Merchant Trophy U16 Men’s Plate Group, being held at Vikas Cricket Ground, Bhubaneswar. By the close of play on the second day, Bihar hold a significant lead of 171 runs.

Bihar posted a total of 279 runs in 97.2 overs in their first innings. Sarthak Jha played a crucial knock of 90 runs, displaying exceptional skill, while Mohit remained unbeaten and contributed a valuable 63 runs to the team’s total.

For Tripura, Prithiraj Gop was the standout bowler, claiming three wickets. Subhdeep Paul and Kishan Sarkar took two wickets each, while Mahin and Omkar chipped in with one wicket apiece.

In response, Tripura faltered with the bat, managing only 157 runs in 55 overs. Siddharth top-scored with 46 runs, while Mahin and Prasenjit contributed 31 and 25 runs, respectively.

Bihar’s Aryan Patel delivered a lethal bowling performance, taking five wickets, while Mohit provided strong support from the other end with four wickets. Bhaskar claimed one wicket to wrap up Tripura’s innings.

In their second innings, Bihar scored 49 runs for the loss of three wickets in 31 overs, extending their overall lead to 171 runs by the end of the second day.

Bihar are now firmly in control of the match, thanks to outstanding performances from Sarthak Jha and Mohit with the bat and Aryan Patel and Mohit with the ball. Tripura will need to deliver an exceptional performance on the third day to turn the game around.
