Bihar Deputy CM Vijay Kumar Sinha Exposes RJD’s False Claims, Demands Apology Over PM’s Visit Dinner Expenditure

By Vishwapati

Patna: Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha today presented a detailed account of the expenditure incurred during the dinner hosted for the Prime Minister’s visit, addressing journalists. He called out Tejashwi Yadav and the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) for their allegations and demanded an apology, providing evidence to counter their claims.

The RJD had previously accused Vijay Kumar Sinha, who was the Assembly Speaker at the time, of spending ₹6,000 per plate for the dinner organised during the Prime Minister’s visit. However, Deputy CM Sinha has now released official documents to refute these allegations, putting the RJD and Tejashwi Yadav on the defensive. He stated that the amount spent per plate during his tenure was significantly lower than what the RJD had claimed.

Deputy CM Sinha revealed that the Bihar Legislative Assembly Secretariat had paid ₹525 per plate (excluding GST) for the dinner hosted during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit on 12th July 2022. The event marked the centenary year celebration of the Bihar Legislative Assembly building, and a dinner was organised for 1,791 guests within the assembly premises. The total expenditure, including GST, amounted to ₹9.87 lakh. A caterer from Buddha Colony was paid at the rate of ₹525 per plate (plus GST). The Assembly Secretariat had formally informed the Accountant General about these details on 17th August 2022.

Sinha challenged the RJD to review the government’s official communication if they were capable of understanding it. He further highlighted another instance where a banquet was organised for 1,500 dignitaries during the President’s visit on 21st October 2021, as part of the Bihar Legislative Assembly Centenary Year Celebration. The total cost for this event, including GST, was ₹8.26 lakh, and the Assembly Secretariat had communicated this to the Accountant General on 23rd November 2021.

By releasing these documents, Deputy CM Sinha has not only debunked the RJD’s allegations but also called for accountability, urging Tejashwi Yadav and the RJD to apologise for their misleading claims.
