Patna: The Bihar Cricket Association (BCA) has decided to launch the Bihar Premier League (BPL) this year and has invited Expressions of Interest (EOI) from interested parties to become franchise partners. This agreement will be valid for a minimum period of five years and may be renewed with mutual consent in future editions.
The BCA has partnered with Perfect Pitch Events & Sports Pvt. Ltd. to accelerate the development of cricket in the state. Under this initiative, the BPL will be organised in the Twenty20 format.
In 2021, the Bihar Cricket League (BCL) was organised along the lines of the Indian Premier League. It was broadcast in 29 countries and watched by over 6 million (60 lakh) viewers. This year, the BCA is preparing to conduct the BPL, which will be broadcast live on JioCinema, continuing the legacy of the BCL.
The league is proposed to be held between 1 June and 25 June 2025, featuring six teams named after cities in Bihar. The final approval of team names will be given by the Governing Council of BPL. All matches will take place at the Urja Ground, Patna.
Key Conditions for EOI Submission:
- The applicant may be an individual or a group of companies with a strong financial position and an annual turnover at least three times the proposed bid amount.
- Proof of Income Tax Return, PAN, and GST registration number must be submitted.
- Applicants must not have any pending criminal cases and should not be involved in any unfair practices such as betting.
A non-refundable processing fee of ₹1 lakh must be paid by demand draft along with the EOI. The minimum bid amount has been fixed at ₹5 crore per year (excluding taxes). The selected franchise must pay 50% of the amount at the time of signing the contract, 25% three days before the league begins, and the remaining 25% one week before the final match. Additionally, an interest-free security deposit of ₹50 lakh is required, which will be refunded 45 days after the conclusion of the league.
