Patna: Ahead of the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections, Bihar CM Nitish Kumar is set to provide a significant boost to the state’s female graduates. Under the Chief Minister’s Girl Graduate Incentive Scheme, approximately five lakh girls in Bihar will receive financial assistance of Rs 50,000 each. The Bihar Education Department has already completed the necessary preparations to implement this initiative.
State universities have uploaded the results of over five lakh graduate students, with the highest number of results declared in 2024. The scheme, which aims to empower and encourage higher education among girls, provides Rs 50,000 to each graduate. The Education Department is now gearing up to disburse the funds once the results are verified.
To facilitate the process, the department will soon open an online portal for eligible girls to apply. After verifying the applications against the uploaded results, the funds will be approved and released. This year, a record number of female students are expected to benefit from the scheme.
Key Highlights of the Scheme
Increased Financial Assistance
The incentive amount was raised from Rs 25,000 to Rs 50,000 in 2021. Since its inception in 2018, the scheme has disbursed over Rs 2,600 crore to more than 6.62 lakh girls.
- From April 25, 2018, to March 31, 2021, Rs 714.80 crore was distributed to 2.85 lakh girls at Rs 25,000 each.
- From April 1, 2021, onwards, Rs 1,889.50 crore has been distributed to 3.77 lakh girls at Rs 50,000 each.
Record Results Declared
Universities have uploaded the highest number of graduation results this year, reflecting the Education Department’s efforts to streamline the examination process. Institutions like Magadh University and JP University, which had pending results for years, have now declared them, enabling more girls to qualify for the scheme.

The scheme, launched to promote higher education among girls, has seen a significant increase in the number of female graduates. This initiative not only supports their academic pursuits but also contributes to their financial independence and overall development.
