Patna: In the final match of the Vijay Merchant Trophy U16 Men’s Plate Group held at Vikas Cricket Ground, Bhubaneswar, Bihar secured a historic 133-run victory over Tripura. With this exceptional performance, Bihar claimed the Plate Group Trophy, marking a significant milestone in the state’s cricketing history. Pritam Raj of the Bihar team was adjudged the Man of the Series for his outstanding contributions throughout the tournament.
Bihar’s Commanding Batting Performance
In the first innings, Bihar posted a commendable score of 279 runs in 97.2 overs. Sarthak Jha shone with a stellar knock of 90 runs, while Mohit Kumar anchored the innings with an unbeaten 63 runs.
Bihar’s batting depth was evident in the second innings as well. Contributions from Animesh Raj (44), Pritam Raj (41), Vivek Anand (25), and Mohit Kumar (22) helped the team amass 208 runs in 92 overs, extending their lead to a formidable 330 runs.
Tripura Stifled by Bihar’s Lethal Bowling
Chasing a target of 331, Tripura struggled against Bihar’s disciplined bowling attack. In the first innings, Aryan Patel spearheaded the attack with a five-wicket haul, while Mohit Kumar claimed four wickets and Bhaskar added one to the tally.
The dominance continued in the second innings. Mohit Kumar took four wickets, while Pritam Raj and Satyam bagged two each. Aryan Patel and Animesh Raj chipped in with a wicket apiece, ensuring Tripura fell 133 runs short of the target.
