Patna: Saloni Kumari of Purnia clinched a grand treble winning the U-19 girls and women’s singles titles of Li Ning Bihar State Junior U-19 and Senior Ranking Badminton Tournament at Indoor Hall in Munger on Friday.
In the women’s singles final, Saloni Kumar beat Ranya Rana (Gaya) 21-7, 21-8 while in the U-19 girls’ singles final she defeated Srija of Patna 21-13, 21-11 to claim the crowns.
Later, partnering with Simran Singh she won the women’s doubles title.
Kartik Kumar of Patna won the boys U-19 title defeating Gopal Kumar of Patna in three-set thriller 16-21, 21-10, 21-12.
Tabrez of Patna won the coveted men’s singles title beating Ritesh Kumar of Bhagalpur 21-15, 21-11.
In the girls’ U-19 mixed doubles final Raj Aaryan and Ranya Rana beat Amrit Raj and Sara Kausar 21-17, 21-11.
In the mixed doubles final Ambuj Prakash and Zainab Nazir beat Khooshee Kumar Pankaj and Akanksha 19-21, 21-16, 21-17.
In the women’s doubles final, Saloni Kumari and Simran Singh beat Fiza Hasan and Sara Kausar 21-19, 19-21, 21-19.
In the boys doubles final Rambilash Kumar and Shanif Raza beat Raj Aryan and Garv Sharda 21-18, 15-21, 21-17.
In the men’s doubles final Ankit Kumar and Khooshee Kumar Pankaj beat Satyam and Yash Bardhan 21-13, 14-21, 21-16.
Later, in the prize-distribution function, Bihar art, culture and youth affairs department minister Jitendra Kumar Rai gave away the prizes. Bihar Badminton Association secretary KN Jaiswal felicitated Bihar minister by presenting him a memento. Office-bearers of Munger District Badminton Association and other gests were present on the occasion.
