Chennai: The second day of the 13th Hockey India Senior Men National Championship 2023 saw Hockey Jharkhand, Hockey Chandigarh, Uttar Pradesh Hockey, Le Puducherry Hockey and Hockey Himachal Pradesh win their respective matches in Chennai, Tamil Nadu.
The first match of the day saw Hockey Jharkhand beat Hockey Andhra Pradesh by 10-3. The goalscorers for Hockey Jharkhand were Royan Soy Murum (5), Vijay Xess (13’), Micheal Toppo (17’, 26’, 59’), Anurud Bhengra (22’), Dilbar Barla (44’), Noyel Toppo (47’), Kujur Lovelight (50’), and Kongari Joseph (56’). While, Hitesh Lekkala Rao (2’), Kumar Ragipati Sandeep (18’), and Venu Gorrela Gopal (53’) scored for Hockey Andhra Pradesh.
Hockey Chandigarh beat Goans Hockey by 4-2 in the second match of the day. Issub Sayyed (3’, 5’) started off by scoring a brace for Goans Hockey but Singh Yograj (14’, 15’) brought the teams back on level terms, scoring two goals for Hockey Chandigarh as the first quarter ended. Later, Singh Vishaljit (17’) and Maninder Singh (40’) netted a goal each to seal the victory for Hockey Chandigarh.
Uttar Pradesh Hockey defeated Kerala Hockey by 13-1 in the third match. Kumar Sumit (7’, 19’, 37’, 44’, 47’), Shivam Anand (8’), Faraz Mohd (10’), Sunil Yadav (17’, 48’), Manish Yadav (21’), Pawan Rajbhar (22’), Lalit Negi (40’), Sahani Arun (54’) and were the goalscorers for Uttar Pradesh Hockey. Shahanul Shafas Kv (58’) scored the lone goal for Kerala Hockey.
In the fourth match of the day Le Puducherry Hockey defeated Hockey Rajasthan 4-3. Suriya S (23’), Vinodhan (37’), Veerathamizhan (41’) and R. Ranjith (59’) scored for Le Puducherry Hockey while Akhtar Shoyab (15’, 45’) and Vijendra Singh Rathore (27’) scored for Hockey Rajasthan.
The last match of the day ended with Hockey Himachal Pradesh defeating Assam Hockey 4-0. Kapil (5’), Vikram (14’), Gurjot Singh Sangha (34’) and Harsukhpreet Singh (59’) scored the goals for Hockey Himachal Pradesh.
Earlier on Friday, the first day of the 13th Hockey India Senior Men National Championship 2023 saw Manipur Hockey, Hockey Maharashtra and Hockey Unit of Tamil Nadu winning their respective matches.
Manipur Hockey kicked off their campaign with a 7-2 win against Hockey Madhya in Pool E. Laishram Dipu Singh (14’, 47,), Captain Chinglensana Singh (37’, 54’), Ningombam Jenjen Singh (7’), Ganendrajit Ningombam (11’) and Suresh Singh Shurenshangbam (29’) scored for Manipur Hockey while Mohd Nizamuddin (17’) and Sourabh Pashine (58’) scored for Hockey Madhya Pradesh.
Hockey Maharashtra defeated Hockey Uttarakhand 22-0 in a Pool D encounter. Venkatesh Kenche (5’, 38’, 39’, 57’, 59’, 60’), Captain Yuvraj Valmiki (12’, 25’, 45, 55’), Darshan Vibhav Gawkar (23’, 33’, 52’), Rohan Patil (9’, 27’), Prajwal Mohakar (18’, 58’), Pranav Mane (30’, 56’), Mayur Dhanavade (10’), Ganesh Patil (14’) and Khanpathan Aamid Sarfaraz (28’) scored for Hockey Maharashtra.
In the last match of the day, the Hockey Unit of Tamil Nadu defeated Assam Hockey 15-1 in Pool B. Sundarapandi (10’, 22’, 59’), Captain J Joshua Benedict Wesely (23’, 40’), C Dinesh Kumar (25’, 45’), Selvaraj Kanagaraj (43’, 49’), Sathish B (1’), Dhanush M (2’), Pruthvi GM (8’), J. Kavin Kishore (16’), Karthi S (18’) and BP Somanna (52’) scored the goals for Hockey Unit of Tamil Nadu while Rupchand Boro (42’) scored the lone goal for Assam Hockey.
