As per preliminary  assessment of university taking together total six postgraduate hostels including hostels for research scholars and girls hostel more than 20 % accommodation is under possession of illegal boarders.

Dr Yogendra, Dean Students Welfare (DSW) had convened meeting of hostel superintendents on Wednesday this week to hold discussion on plan of freeing hostels from illegal occupants. Dr Yogendra told view19.in that list of illegal boarders would be available with him within next few days following which process would be initiated for eviction of illegal boarders. He confirmed as per preliminary assessment more than 20% accommodation is under possession of illegal occupants at present taking together all the postgraduate hostels.

In this context DSW said six postgraduate hostels of university have capacity of accommodating more than 700 students. He said broadly speaking there are four types of illegal borders.

There are illegal boarders who are not enrolled in any course but have been staying in hostels in name of students who have been provided accommodation in hostels DSW informed adding then there are other illegal boarders who were provided accommodation in hostels in past but have retained seats in hostels even after completion of courses in which they were enrolled.

He said number of such illegal borders is in job at present.  DSW added there are also students who have been retaining accommodation in hostel illegally despite expiry of their occupancy tenure in hostels as student of a particular course.

Dr Yogendra said FIR would be lodged against such illegal boarders who are not student of university but have been staying in hostels in name of students allotted seat in hostels.

In case of such illegal boarders who have not vacated hostel seats even after completion of study, options like serving them notice for cancellation of their degrees besides withholding degrees of such illegal occupants who have not been provided degree yet is under consideration for mounting pressure, Dr DSW added.

Deepak Kumar Dinkar, Public Relation Officer (PRO) of TMBU said in regards to infrastructural deficiencies in hostels particularly furniture the superintendents of hostels present in meeting were asked to submit list of furniture required in their respective hostels. Shortage of personnel in hostels was also discussed in course of meeting, he added.
