Bhagalpur: Dog Gets Recognition for Good Work

Bhagalpur, Bihar, India: There is nothing special about acknowledging good deeds of human being. Same however does not apply in case of animals. Good work of animals seldom finds recognition. “Alex” a member of Railway Protection Force (RPF) dog squad stationed here however is an exception.

Acknowledging major contribution of Alex in cracking a murder case, the dog was honoured recently by Malda divisional authorities of Eastern Railway. Vikas Chaube, Divisional Railway Manager (DRM), during his recent inspection tour made it a point to visit RPF post here for honouring  Alex.

DRM garlanded sniffer dog as token of appreciation of his good work. The local police it may be worth mentioning had recently taken assistance of Alex in solving case related to murder of Anuj, a farmer near Akbarnagar village. The sniffer dog had played crucial role in nabbing criminals involved in murder of the farmer.

A local animal lover expressing happiness over gesture of railway authorities said to see an animal getting his due share of appreciation is really heartening.

Meanwhile more than seven railway employees were awarded by DRM at safety awards programme organised on Monday at Malda, divisional headquarter.

The railway employee who were awarded included Sonu Kumar Singh, points man at Mizachowki station, Amarnath Shaw, Iech-111 of Malda, Sanjay Kumar Mandal, Senior Technician, Malda, Ashwinee Kumar , SSE, Malda, Bimal Kumar Swarnakar, TM-1, Bhagalpur, Avadesh Kumar Yadav and Uday Pratap Ray both track maintainer posted at Bhagalpur.

Sonu Kumar Singh, points man of Mirzachowki station among awardees had recently shown exemplary alertness by stopping a goods train in time for saving life of a person who was somehow stuck under a wagon of moving goods train.

Roopa Mandol, Public Relation Assistant (PRA), Malda division said safety awards programme is organized fortnightly by Malda division to encourage and appreciate outstanding performance of railway staff related to safety besides saving lives and preventing major failures. To keep staff motivated is one of the major objectives of safety awards programme, PRA added.
