BAU Community Radio Station Bags Gold Award at WAVES-2025

Bhagalpur: There has been a new addition in list of achievements of Bihar Agriculture University (BAU), Sabour with community radio station of university Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Barh have bagged gold award securing first position in radio category at World Audio Visual Global Summit (WAVES 2025) being held at Mumbai.

The summit organized by government of India from May 1-4 is being held at Jio World Convention Centre in Mumbai. More than hundred countries are participating in the summit.

For the prestigious gold award, the information and broadcasting ministry had received over one lakh entries in different categories from creators of participating countries. As per information provided by BAU authorities total 700 finalists were selected from the total entries in 32 categories.

In the community radio category KVK Barh received gold award while Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC) received silver award. The university authorities said PM Narendra Modi who graced inaugural session of WAVES 2025, interacted with radio representatives of BAU.

In interaction with the radio representatives, he enquired about radio programmes being run by university. The radio representatives of universities also had an opportunity to meet union information and broadcasting minister Ashwini Vaishnaw after award ceremony.

The union minister interacting with radio representatives of university congratulated people of Bihar for the feat referring to gold award. The community radio station of Barh received gold award for programme “Apni Kyari Apni Thali” (Our Garden, Our Plate) based on development of women and child.

FM Green radio channel of university had played key role in production of the programme. Motivation of people for kitchen gardening through folk songs presented by Tarakant Thakur formed part of Apni Kyari Apni Thali programme.

VC, BAU, Dr D R Singh said receipt of gold award by community radio station of university at world summit is matter of great honour for university. The BAU provided opportunity to represent in summit has brought laurels for the state by winning gold award, he added

The award was presented to KVK Barh by chairman of Film Certification Board Prasoon Joshi. Sangeeta Kumari, radio -in -charge of KVK Patna received the award. Those present at award function included Devendra Fadnavis, chief minister of Maharashtra, film actors Anupam Kher, Amir Khan, Nagarjuna beside others.
