Patna:The trophy for the Baidyanath Prasad Memorial Under-13 Inter-School Cricket Tournament, organised by the Baidyanath Prasad Foundation, was unveiled on Saturday, 7 December. The unveiling ceremony was held at the Patna Mayor’s office in Mauryalok premises, where Patna Mayor Mrs. Sita Sahu revealed the trophy in the presence of Empowered Standing Committee members and councillors.
Speaking at the event, Shishir Kumar, the organising president and son of the late Baidyanath Prasad, shared details about the tournament. He stated that teams representing schools, academies, and institutions would participate, with the matches being played on a knockout basis. A total of 16 teams will compete in the tournament, scheduled to commence on 10 December at the Cricket Academy of Bihar ground. Matches will be conducted by panel umpires and will follow a 25-over format.
Santosh Tiwari, founder secretary of the Sardar Patel Sports Foundation, has been appointed the organising secretary, while cricketer Sumit Sharma will act as the coordinator.
Shishir Kumar further elaborated on the prizes and format, noting that two matches will be held daily. The winner and runner-up teams will be awarded glittering trophies, with individual prizes for players, including Player of the Match, Player of the Tournament, Best Batsman, Best Bowler, Best Fielder, and recognition for emerging players. Participants will be required to present their birth certificates and Aadhaar cards for age verification before each match.
