Patna: Opening batsman Babul Kumar slammed an polished century (128 not out) and his unbroken 112 runs partnership with Shivam Singh (47 not out) for the fifth wicket piloted Bihar to 296 for 4 in their first innings on the first day of the Ranji Trophy match against Mizoram at Gokulbhai Somabhai Patel Stadium in Nadiad on Tuesday.
Earlier, Mizoram won the toss and elected to field first. Bihar lost their first wicket at 43 on the board when opener V Raj was clean bowled by Taruwar Kohli for 28. Bihar lost their third wicket at team score of 103 runs. But a fourth wicket partnership of 80 runs between S Gani (38) and Babul Kumar (42) took Bihar total to 183 before Sakibul Gani was bowled by Dika Ralte. After the fall of the fourth wicket Babul and Shivam Singh put Mizoram attack to the swords and collected runs easily.
