Patna, July 15: Ashwini Ranjan of Bihar will be seen in action for Rajasthan Warriors in India’s first franchise-based Kho-Kho league, to be held in Pune from August 14.
Secretary of Kho-Kho Association of Bihar, Neeraj Kumar Pappu said that Ashwini Ranjan has been given a place in Rajasthan Warriors. A total of 22 players have been included in Rajasthan Warriors team.
He said that Ashwini Ranjan is currently at the training camp of the Indian Kho-Kho team that is expected to participate in the 4th Asian Kho-Kho Championship in Pune. The camp will continue till July 19.
Pappu said that the Ultimate Kho-Kho League, which is being started due to the tireless efforts of all the office-bearers of the federation including the president of Indian Kho-Kho Federation Sudhanshu Mittal and general secretary MS Tyagi. It will bring revolution in Indian Kho-Kho. He said that after the selection of a player of Bihar, the attraction of the people towards this game will increase further in the state.
He said that it is a matter of pride for us that the player of Bihar will be seen playing in this league. He said that the Kho-Kho Association of Bihar is determined to popularise the game in the state. He further said that in the coming days, a talent hunt competition would be organised to find out the players and they would be sent in the other states for better training. Along with this, special training program will be conducted in the state.
On the selection of Ashwini Ranjan, the office bearers and players of Kho-Kho Association of Bihar expressed their happiness and congratulated him.
It is worth noting that the first season of Ultimate Kho-Kho League will be played from August 14 at Shree Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex in Pune, where six teams will compete for the title. The tournament will conclude on September 4.
In the first season Chennai Quick Guns (KLO Sports), Gujarat Giants (Adani Sportsline), Mumbai Players (Badshah and Puneet Balan), Odisha Juggernauts (Odisha Govt), Rajasthan Warriors (Capri Global) and Telugu Warriors (GMR Sports) will participate. Promoted by Dabur India president Amit Burman in association with Kho-Kho Federation of India (KKFI), the league aims to take forward this indigenous sport both on-air and on-ground.
