Ashok Singh Memorial Chess Tournament gets off to a colourful start

Patna, July 24: The 4th Ashok Singh Memorial Chess Tournament got off to a colourful start at Lohia Nagar Mount Carmel School hall here on Monday. The tournament is being organsied under the aegis of Ashok Singh Foundation.

Patna District Sports Officer Om Prakash, Kaimur District Sports Officer Om Prakash Kumar, LMC Group Director Meenu Singh, vice president Shalini Singh, FIDE Instructor Rakesh Ranjan jointly inaugurated the tournament by lighting the traditional lamp and playing chess with the budding players.

The opening function was conducted by sports head of the school Rupak Kumar while the vote of thanks was proposed by Subhadra Kumari. On the occasion administrator Avadh Kishore Prasad, Sandeep Kumar Singh, tournament official Rajesh Ranjan, Sudhir Kumar Mishra, Rupesh Ranjan, Alok Priyadarshi, Aditi Arya, sports teacher Shivam Kumar and Pankaj Kumar Vidyarthi were present.

The tournament will be continued till July 27. As many as 95 boys and girls from different schools have been participating in the tournament. In his speech, Patna District Sports Officer Omprakash said that chess is a game that plays a very important role in the mental development of children. Parents should also encourage the game of chess at home. It is seen that children are taking more interest in mobile nowadays, due to which their mental development has slowed down. In such a situation, this game will act as a tonic for them, he added.

LMC Group of Schools Director Meenu Singh said that we have been organising this type of event regularly and other games will also be organised in future. On the other hand, vice president of the LMC Group of Schools Shalini Singh while encouraging the participating players said that on the lines of basic education, LMC Group of School organises various outdoor and indoor games from time to time so that children excel in sports as well as studies.

In Under-10 boys category Piyush Anand defeated Akshat Ojha, Arsh Sarin Harsh Sareen beat Rohit Raj, Aum Kashyap beat Samyak Pathak,  Ayush Raj defeated Shaurya Ranjan, Utsav Verma defeated Divyansh Jha, Milind Priyam defeated Yash Raj while Mihir Priyam got a bye. The battle between Govind and Aarush Kumar, Priyanshu Raj and Ankit Raj ended in a draw.

In Under-10 girls category Mitra Binda defeated Adhya Roy, Ojasvi defeated Ananya, Ankita Raj defeated Sanchi Sinha, Saanvi Sinha defeated Anshika, Arshi defeated Saumya Anand, Trisha Ranjan defeated Komal Rani while the matches between Anokhi Pari and Sanvi ; Anveshika and Srishti Deya  ended in a draw.

In the Under 12 boys category, Md. Kaif Ullah beat Kartikeya Nandan, Mayank Raj beat Abhishek Kumar Chaudhary, Neeraj Kumar beat Adarsh ​​Ranjan, Akshat Raj beat Nishant Dev, Rudra Raj beat Aman Raj, Aman Raj beat Sahil Kumar, Ashish Kumar beat Sampoorna Gupta, Bhavya Sharma beat Satya, Vaibhav Balaji beat Shreya Singh,   Utkarsh Raj beat Dayan Shekhar Singh, Vaibhav Anand beat  Ishaan Anand, Yash Raj beat Ishaan Kumar, Yash Raj Sr defeated Prashant Singh, while the match between Abhinav Kesari and Mani Roopraj was drawn.

In Under -12 girls’ category, Tania Ranjan defeated Ashika Nandani and Anshika Gaurav defeated Tejas.

In U-15 boys category, Abhigyan Kashyap beat Prasanjit Kumar, Akshit Jha beat Atul Raj Singh, Aryan Raj beat Prince Raj, Priyanshu Raj beat Atul Kumar, Raj Kishore Sharma beat Chandrashekhar Kumar, Gaurav Kumar beat Raunak Jaiswal, Saksham Nath beat Hemant Kumar, Satyam Raj defeated Keshav Kumar Jha, Saurav Sinha beat Kundan Kumar, Shashank Singh beat Naman Kumar, Shaurya Sinha defeated Nandan Kumar, while the match between Vidyanshu Kumar Ravi and Neeraj Naman ended in draw.

In Under-15 girls category Adeeba Ullah defeated Mahi Sah, Aishwarya Shree defeated Muskan Ranjan, Riya Kumari defeated Priya Karini.

In Under-17 boys’ category, Akshat Singh defeated Karan Singh, Mayank Sharma defeated Satyanand Vidyasagar.

In the Under-17 girls’ category, Kritika Ranjan defeated Jyotsna, Swati defeated Alka.
