Another major blow for Mafia Mukhtar as a result of Yogi govt’s effective courtroom lobbying

Lucknow: As a result of the Yogi government’s effective lobbying in the court, Ghazipur’s MP/MLA court has sentenced mafia Mukhtar Ansari to ten years of rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 5 lakh in another case related to gangster activities.

Even before this, Mukhtar had been sentenced for ten years in a different gangster case. Notably, Mukhtar Ansari had been sentenced to life imprisonment earlier too in the murder case of Avadhesh Rai. Mukhtar Ansari has been sentenced in a total of six cases so far.

Arguments completed on October 17, guilty verdict declared on October 26

On Friday, the MP/MLA court gave its verdict in the case registered at Karanda police station in Ghazipur. Apart from Mukhtar, Sonu Yadav has also been sentenced to five years’ rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs 2 lakh.

During the hearing, Mukhtar was produced from Banda jail through video conferencing. This case was registered against Mukhtar under the Gangster Act in 2009 for the murder of Kapildev Singh, a resident of Sabua of Karanda area, and attempt to murder of Amir Hasan of Muhammadabad. The arguments of both parties were completed in the MP/MLA court on October 17. He was declared guilty on October 26.

Assets worth more than Rs 605 crore seized

Mukhtar Ansari, who leads an interstate gang, has a total of 65 cases filed against him. Meanwhile, in connection with Mafia Mukhtar, 156 cases have been filed against his 288 members/associates. Additionally, action has been taken against 175 licensed weapon holders associated with the mafia.

Apart from this, 5 mafia/co-criminals related to the gang were killed in police encounters. Actions have been taken under the Gangster Act against 164 accused associated with the mafia Mukhtar’s gang and under the National Security Act (NSA) against 6 accused, resulting in the seizure/destruction of property worth more than Rs 605 crore. Illegal businesses (contracts/tenders/firms) with a value of more than Rs 215 crore belonging to the accused have also been shut down.
