Ankita Raj of Bihar wins National U-7 School Chess title

Patna: Ankita Raj of Bihar emerged champion in the under-7 category of the National School Chess Championship being held at Hosur, Tamil Nadu. Ankita, playing with black pieces, defeated Arahiya Bhattacharya of West Bengal and won the tournament with 7.5 points in the final round match played at Adhyaman Engineering College, Hosur today.  Ankita had also performed well in the national tournament last year as well.

On the other hand, last year’s National Under-11 School Championship winner Ryan Mohammed, who participated in the Under-13 Championship this year, finished sixth with a total of 7 points.

All Bihar Chess Association (ABCA) president Diljit Khanna, secretary Dharmendra Kumar and all the office bearers have congratulated Ankita Raj for her feat.

Dharmendra Kumar, Secretary of All Bihar Chess Association, who was present on this occasion as the chief arbiter of this national chess championship, informed the media.
