Araria: Garv Sharda of Purnia will face Amrit Raj of Muzaffarpur in boys singles final of the Consam Li Ning Bihar State Junior Ranking Badminton Tournament at Indoor Stadium here tomorrow.
In the semi-finals, Garv defeated Saksham Vats of Patna 21-13, 13-21, 21-13 in a three-game thriller while Amrit defeated Aditya Chaudhary of Samastipur 21-15, 12-21, 21- 11.
In the girls’ singles semi-final, the previous winner Saloni of Purnia defeated Sara Kausar of Patna 21-12, 21-14 to enter the final again. In the second seminal Srija of Patna defeated Sanvi of Bhagalpur 21-8, 17-21 21-19 to enter the final and set up title clash with Saloni.
In the boys’ doubles semi-final, the pair of Muzaffarpur’s Tanveer and Amrit Raj defeated Parag Singh and Kunal Anand of Munger 12-21, 21-7, 21-19 in a close match while Garv Sharda of Purnia and Raj Aryan of Nawada defeated the pair of Aditya Chaudhary and Rishab Raj of Samastipur 21-11 21-18 to enter the final.
In the girls’ doubles semi-final, Bhagalpur’s Sanvi and Kaimur’s Fiza Hassan defeated Manila Priya of Munger and Anshika Arya of Samastipur to enter the final. In the second semi-final, the pair of Patna’s Sara and Purnia’s Saloni defeated Katihar’s Somya Bharti and Patna’s Srija to reach the final.
Earlier today in the first session, quarterfinal matches of all categories of boys and girls were played. Barring a few matches, almost all the matches were in favour of the top seed players. Only two-time winner and top seed Tanveer Ahmed of Muzaffarpur crashed out of the tournament after losing in straight sets 21-17, 23-21 to Garv Sharda of Purnia in their quarterfinal match. Apart from this, Amrit Raj of Muzaffarpur defeated Gopal Kumar of Patna 25-23, 21-15, Saksham Vats of Patna defeated Majid Ali of Darbhanga 25-27, 21-11, 21-11 Aditya Kumar Chaudhary of Samastipur defeated Shanif of Purnia. Raza 21-11, 21-16 to enter the semifinals. Saloni Kumari of Purnia defeated Zanib Nazir of Patna 21-9, 21-12, Sara Kausar of Patna defeated Shivangi Kumari of Khagaria 21-13, 21-10 to Somya Bharti of Patna. Ko 21-13, 21-9 Saanvi Anand of Bhagalpur defeated Fiza Hassan of Kaimur 21-11, 21-17 to make it to the semi-finals.
In the doubles, the pair of Tanveer Ahmed and Amritraj of Muzaffarpur defeated the pair of Ramvilas and Shanif Raja of Purnia, the pair of Kunal Anand and Parag of Munger defeated the pair of Hansraj and Raman Singh of Samastipur,
In the mixed doubles, the  pair of Ashutosh Kumar Singh Samastipur and Vashbhi Bhushan Begusarai defeated the pair of Buxar and Manila Priya of Munger 21-10 21-11 The pair of Aditya Raj and Yashvi of Motihari defeated the pair of Nitish Mandal and Khyati Shankar of Supaul. 21-11 21-10.
