Patna: Alka of Siwan (Bihar) made it to the next round of the shot put event of the 18th National Inter District Junior Athletics Meet (NIDJAM) at Patliputra Sports Complex on Friday. In Javelin throw, Kajal Kumari of Aurangabad (Bihar) also qualified for the next round. In the boys’ section, Akash Bhardwaj of Muzaffarpur (Bihar) and Suraj Kumar of Patna (Bihar) made it to the semi-finals in the under-16 boys’ hurdle race.
Apart from this, in discus throw under-16 age group, Priyanshu Sharma of Gaya (Bihar) and in girls’ category, Jagriti Singh of Gopalganj (Bihar) qualified for the next round.
On Friday, the events of various categories of athletics started at 8 am. Before this, biometric and age test of all the participants was done. After this, training and seminars were organised by the experts of Athletics Federation of India and Bihar State Sports Authority on anti-doping, and prevention of exploitation and abuse of players.
On the first day of the meet, 600 metres race in boys under-16 category, girls under-16 javelin throw, girls under-16 shot put, girls under-16 discus throw, girls under-16 high jump, boys under-16 discus throw, events were held.
