Air Pistol to fire first at ISSF World Cup Rifle/Pistol Bhopal

Bhopal: Competitions are all set to begin at the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) World Cup Rifle/Pistol Bhopal, the first ever Shooting world cup stage be held in India outside New Delhi, with the men’s and women’s 10m Air Pistol finals scheduled on Wednesday, March 22, 2023, competition day one of the tournament. Three Indians each will be in contention for medals in both the events. While Sarabjot Singh, Varun Tomar and Sumit Raman go first among the men, Rhythm Sangwan, Divya TS and Manu Bhaker, will be in contention among the women.

 Both the finals will be streamed LIVE on the ISSF YouTube channel with the men’s final scheduled at 11.15am and the women’s final at 1.30pm IST.

 The ISSF World Cup Rifle/Pistol Bhopal was officially inaugurated in a grand opening ceremony by Shri. Shivraj Singh Chauhan, Hon. Chief Minister, Madhya Pradesh, here at the Kushabhau Thakre International Convention Centre. Among the dignitaries present was Mr. Luciano Rossi, President, ISSF. The Hon. Chief Minister on the occasion, also inaugurated the new Finals Hall at the M.P. Shooting Academy range, venue of the week-long tournament.

The men’s 10m Air Pistol has a 24-strong field while the women have 19 vying for the coveted ISSF World Cup medal with both the reigning world champions Liu Jinyao (men) and Lu Kaiman of China in the fray.
