Patna: Maharashtra’s Aditya Pisal stole the limelight at the Khelo India Youth Games 2025 in Bihar with a stellar display of speed and power, clinching two gold medals in the 100m sprint and 4x100m relay—both with new meet records. This achievement was especially sweet for Pisal, who had faced heartbreak a few months ago at the National Youth Championship in Patna when he was disqualified from the 100m event due to a false start.
Aditya Pisal clocked 10.62 seconds in the boys’ 100m race, setting a new meet record. He later ran the third leg for Maharashtra in the 4x100m relay, helping his team secure gold in 41.55 seconds—again a new meet record.
On a night that saw five new meet records—highlighted by Tamil Nadu’s Sadhana Ravi in triple jump and Haryana’s Riddhi in discus throw—Bihar athletes won three silver and one bronze medal. But Aditya Pisal emerged as the undisputed star of the day.
Usually known for his prowess in the 200m event, Aditya Pisal competed in the 100m for the first time on the domestic circuit. Despite a slow start, he surged past Bihar’s Prince Kumar to claim the gold and set the new record.
He then played a decisive role in Maharashtra’s relay team, joining forces with Arjun Deshpande, 110m hurdles gold medallist Saif Chapekar, and Rudra Shinde to finish in a record 41.55 seconds—the fastest in Khelo India Youth Games history.
His cautious start possibly stemmed from the trauma of his earlier disqualification. However, this time he powered through to victory. Had his start been sharper, he might have even challenged the national youth record of 10.55 seconds set by Amit Kumar Shah in 2002 and fulfilled his dream of becoming India’s fastest U18 sprinter.
Qadir Khan Breaks 400m Record Again
Uttar Pradesh’s Qadir Khan broke his own meet record in the 400m, clocking 47.34 seconds. Karnataka’s Syed Sabir gave him a tough fight, but Bihar’s Piyush Raj showed great determination to dive across the finish line and secure silver for the host state.
Piyush Raj, who narrowly missed out on a spot in India’s relay team for the Asian Youth Championship in Dammam (Saudi Arabia) last month, made a strong comeback with his silver-winning performance.
Edwina and Prisha Shine, Shaurya Claims Two Medals
In the girls’ 400m, Edwina Jason took gold with a time of 55.90 seconds. Running in the outermost lane, she was unaware of her competitors’ positions but gave it her all in the final stretch to edge past Haryana’s Deepika.
Prisha Mishra won the girls’ 100m in 11.85 seconds, becoming the fastest girl at Khelo India Youth Games 2025 and breaking the 12-second barrier for the first time. However, she missed out on a relay medal, as Haryana’s team—with two fast runners—failed to reach the podium.
Maharashtra’s Shaurya Ambure, who won gold in the 100m hurdles on Monday, added a silver in the 100m sprint on Tuesday with a personal best of 12.02 seconds. She then led Maharashtra’s girls’ 4x100m relay team to a comfortable win.
