Patna: A fruitful partnership of 179 runs for the sixth wicket between Paramjeet Singh and Shashank Upadhyay guided Bihar to 293 for the loss of seven wickets at the end of first day’s play of their multi-day match of Col. CK Nayudu Trophy against Chandigarh at the Moinul Haq Stadium here on Sunday.
Bihar were struggling at 94 for the loss of five wickets after Chandigarh won the toss and asked Bihar to bat first. The sixth wicket partnership of 179 runs was achieved in 284 balls, with Paramjeet Singh scoring 108 and Shashank Upadhyay scoring 71. During the partnership, Parmamjeet Singh scored his century. However, the diligent batsman remained not out on 114 runs when the stumps were drawn for the day. His 114 came off 163 balls with 20 hits to the fence. Shashank Upadhyay scored 76 runs off 150 balls with seven boundaries.
For Chandigarh, medium pacer Mandeep Singh took four wickets for 52 runs off 18 overs.
