PATNA: Senior sports journalist Manoj Kumar Sinha passed away in Patna on Saturday night. He was 57.
Sinha is survived by his wife, a son and a daughter.
Family members said Sinha complained of uneasiness around afternoon and was admitted to a private hospital in Patliputra Colony here. He breathed his last at around 8 pm.
Sinha began his career as a proof reader with the now defunct The Searchlight in the 1980s. He joined the Hindustan Times in 1986 when the newspaper began its Patna edition in 1986.
In 1995, he became a copy editor and worked on the sports desk till he was transferred to Kolkata in 2018. During his stint on the HT sports desk, Sinha covered many local events. He was also an active member of Sports Journalist Association of Bihar (SJAB). He quit the Hindustan Times in 2019 because of personal reasons.
SJAB president Deepak Pandey, former secretary Pradeep Modak, sports journalist Navin Chandra Manoj, former senior news editor of Hindustan Times (Patna and Mohali editions) Alok Mohit and many journalists of Patna mourned the death of Manoj Kumar Sinha.
