Entrepreneurship Cell (E-Cell), run by the students of IIT-BHU Varanasi under the aegis of Ideation Innovation and Incubation (I-3) Foundation is organising an annual entrepreneurship festival E-Summit ‘23 from January 6 to 8 with the guidance of Prof Pramod Kumar Jain, Director of IIT-BHU and Prof Rajnesh Tyagi, Prof In-charge, E-Cell. The summit will conduct a wide variety of entrepreneurship-oriented events, catering to audiences across the board including investors, new-age entrepreneurs, industry leaders, enthusiasts, and the academic community.
Prof Rajnesh Tyagi, Prof In-charge, E-Cell informed that IIT-BHU Foundation is the principal sponsor along with Bank of Baroda as associate sponsor, and Microsoft, AWS Activate, Clevertap, and FreshWorks are the Startup services partners for the summit. E-Cell is also collaborating with major firms like Amazon Web Services, Microsoft for Zoho for Startups, and Freshworks for startups providing startup support credits worth more than Rs 60 lakh to eligible startups, and VCs like 100X, Pavilion Fund, Maverick Angel Syndicate, Auxano, The Venture Folks, Pedalstart, LetsVenture and YourNest Venture Capital will be attending the fundraising events.
He further said that E-Cell is devoted to act as a symbiotic link between the existing or aspiring entrepreneurs and the current start-up ecosystem to enhance the overall culture of entrepreneurship across India. The theme of this year’s summit is “Augmenting Ambitions”, an inspiration for adventurous souls to drive on untrodden paths with the wheels of innovation in the pursuit of excellence and distinction. This extravaganza will also feature an amazing line-up of renowned unicorn founders, eminent VCs, and prominent designation holders of leading companies across India, as part of the Panel Discussions, Offline Pitches, and Startup Showcases. E-Summit’23 features include more than 10 events including panel discussions from leading professionals, Live Pitches for VCs, B-Plan competitions, UI-UX Competitions, case studies, mock trading, quizzes, fun activities, and many more refreshing events.
IIT-BHU director Prof Pramod Kumar Jain is of the view that during the pandemic period, the Indian entrepreneurship ecosystem has witnessed a major boom as more than 80000 startups are being recognised by the Department for the Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) by 2022 and 100+ startups are now in the unicorn club.
Dean (R&D) IIT-BHU Prof Vikash Kumar Dubey believes that entrepreneurship and start-ups are the future building blocks of the Indian Economy. Prof Rajnesh Tyagi, Dean, Faculty Affairs, IIT-BHU Varanasi, and Director of Ideation Innovation & Incubation (I-3) Foundation (I3F) stresses on the development of entrepreneurial culture in the institute and several incubators namely, RKVY-RAFTAAR Agribusiness Incubator, NCL IIT (BHU) Incubation Center, and Cisco ThingQbator all already working under i.e. I3F.
