SSCB emerge overall champs in 4th Junior National Boys Boxing

Patna: Services Sports Control Board (SSCB) emerged overall champions winning a total of 11 medals including six gold and 59 points in the 4th Junior National Boys Boxing Championship at Patliputra Sports Complex here on Thursday. Even after scoring as many points, Haryana became runners-up due to five gold medals in their kitty.

Abhishek Singh of Bihar won bronze medal in 57 to 60 kg weight category and Ronit Ranjan in 52 to 54 kg weight category in this championship hosted by Boxing Association of Bihar under the aegis of Boxing Federation of India.

Bihar team won the fair play team title. Haryana’s Yashvardhan Singh was declared the best boxer, UP’s Rishi Singh was declared the best challenger, SSCB’s Sahil was declared the best budding player. Rohitas Kumar of Sonepat Haryana was given the best coach award. The Best Technical Officer award was not given to entire technical officer team.

Founder chairman of SAIS Group of Companies and former MP RK Sinha who was the chief guest at the closing function gave away prizes along with former Bihar deputy chief minister Tarkishore Prasad and principal commissioner of Income Tax, cum organising chairman Shrikant Kumar Ambastha.

Speaking on the occasion, RK Sinha said that players should insist on doing their best regardless of victory or defeat in sports and every person should always move forward with this spirit of sportsmanship in his life. He wished all the players to do better and bring laurels to the country. Organising president Tarkishore Prasad and organizing secretary Rajeev Kumar Singh welcomed all the guests.

Vice president of Boxing Federation of India Narendra Kumar Nirvana, Anil Kumar Bohidar, JR Pradhan (Arjuna Awardee), BFI joint secretary R Rajendran, Dr Rakesh Kumar Tiwari and other dignitaries gave away the prizes to the players. On this occasion, Bihar State Kabaddi Association secretary Kumar Vijay, Bihar Fencing Association secretary Ramashankar  Prasad, Colonel Kumar Anupam, Rajeev Verma, Boxing Association of Bihar vice president OP Singh, Saket Kumar, Virendra Paswan, Saroj Jha, Gautam Mandal, Amarjeet, Rahul, Vidyaram and others were present on the occasion.

44 to 46 kg weight category: Gold – Vrajesh Tamta (Uttarakhand), Silver – Rishi Singh (UP), Bronze – Rishu (Haryana) and Sunil Kumar (Rajasthan)

46 to 48 kg weight category: Gold – Arthav Bidakar (Maharashtra), Silver – Krish Pal (Chandigarh), Bronze – Alok (Haryana), Irajyoti Gagoi (Assam)

48 to 50 kg weight category: Gold – Aryan (SSCB), Silver – Ronit Raj Gupta (Jharkhand), Bronze – Dalwash Katre (Madhya Pradesh) and Nishant Dalmotra (Punjab)

50 to 52 kg weight category: Gold – Abdul Qadir (Haryana), Silver – Harsh (SSCB), Bronze – Jitendra Jatav (Madhya Pradesh), Rachit Singh Rawat (Uttarakhand)

52 to 54 kg weight category: Gold – Nikhil (Haryana), Silver – Sandeep Singh (Punjab), Bronze – Ronit Ranjan (Bihar) and Jayant Dagar (Sikkim)

54 to 57 kg weight category: Gold – Jatin (SSCB), Silver – Rehan Sah (Maharashtra), Bronze – Vaibhav Dahiya (Haryana) and Hanni (Punjab)

57 to 60 kg weight category: Gold – Rupesh (Haryana), Silver – Deepak Dhami (Uttarakhand), Bronze – Abhishek Singh (Bihar) and Rohit Tewatia (Madhya Pradesh)

60 to 63 kg weight category: Gold – Yashvardhan Singh (Haryana), Silver – Harish Saini (Rajasthan), Bronze – Krish (SSCB) and Ankit Kumar (Himachal Pradesh)

63 to 66 kg weight category: Gold – Karan Bisht (SSCB), Silver – Sumit (Daman and Islands), Bronze – Suryadev (Haryana) and Lallanpuia (Mizoram)

66 to 70 kg weight category: Gold – Prince (SSCB), Silver – Vansh Sharma (Punjab), Bronze – Chirag Sharma (Haryana) and Paramjeet Singh (Chandigarh)

70 to 75 kg weight category: Gold – Sahil (SSCB), Silver – Prince (Haryana), Bronze – Nikhil Jaiswal (UP) and Divyanshu Singh Bisht (Uttarakhand)

75 to 80 kg weight category: Gold – Aryan (SSBB), Silver – Rishabh Sikarwal (Madhya Pradesh), Bronze – Shri Charan Pashupulit (Telangana) and Dev Pratap Singh Kushwaha (UP)

Above 80kg: Gold – Lakshya Rathi (Haryana), Silver – Gurpreet (Punjab), Bronze – Gaurav (Maharashtra) and Harsh Rathi (UP)
