Saran, Begusarai enter semi-finals of Bihar Senior Ball Badminton

Patna: Saran defeated Police Academy 35-25, 33-35, 35-33 and Begusarai beat Patna by 35-18, 35-20 to enter the semi-finals in the women’s section of Ramdevan Rai-Dilip Rai Memorial 29th Bihar State Senior Ball Badminton Championship being played in Hajipur.

Khushboo, Neha, Sakshi, Purnima from Saran and Poonam, Yukta Rani, Khushi, Muskan from Begusarai performed brilliantly. In the men’s category, Police Academy Patna, Naugachia, Siwan, Begusarai, Vaishali, Bhagalpur and Patna entered the quarter-finals from their respective pools.

Guests trying their hands on ball badminton

Aurangabad MLA Bhim Singh Yadav and Sheikhpura MLA Vijay Samrat were present as the chief guests of the second day of the championship and they encouraged the players. Both the MLAs assured to organise ball badminton game in their respective areas.

They also assured to provide cooperation to the ball badminton players of the state. The function was presided over by the organising chairman-cum- MLA Mukesh Roshan. The guests were welcomed by Ravi Ranjan Kumar, Secretary of Vaishali District Ball Badminton Association. Gouri Shankar, Secretary of Bihar State Ball Badminton Association, proposed a vote of thanks.

Results:

Men’s category – Begusarai defeated Siwan, Madhubani defeated Aurangabad, Nalanda defeated Nawada, Begusarai defeated Darbhanga, Madhubani defeated Nalanda.

Women’s category – Saran defeated Patna, Siwan defeated Bhagalpur, Naugachia defeated Munger, Begusarai defeated Police Academy, Vaishali defeated Darbhanga, Vaishali defeated Munger, Saran defeated Police Academy and Vaishali defeated Munger.
