Patna: The three-day Rameshwar Singh Memorial State Level Football Tournament got off to a colourful start at Sanjay Gandhi Stadium here on Friday. In the first match, Civil Audit defeated Gaya XI by 1-0. Arif scored the goal for the winning team.
Earlier, the tournament was inaugurated by former Patna Mayor Shyam Babu Rai, Bihar Football Association Secretary Syed Imtiaz Hussain, Patna Football Association President Ram Ishwar Prasad alias Sadhu Gop, former footballers Dinesh Singh, Arjun Singh, Gopal Ji Sahay, Manohar Rai and Prem Vallabh Sahai jointly. They were also introduced to the players.
On this occasion, guests and players paid floral tributes to Rameshwar Singh’s oil painting and observed silence for two minutes.
Virender Bahadur Singh, Ravi Kumar Singh, Ved Nidhi, Secretary of Patna Football Association Manoj Kumar, Coach Manoj Kumar Singh, Mahesh Dubey, Joint Secretary of Patna Football Association Shyam Babu Yadav alias Mallu Yadav, former footballer Vijendra Singh welcomed the guests by presenting them mementos and bouquets.
On this occasion, Bihar football team coach Santosh Kumar, HOR Bihar Satyendra Kumar, Gopinath Dutta of Patna Football Association, coach Nand Kishore Prasad and many dignitaries were present.
