Patna: Madhavji Prasad Memorial U-13 Cricket Tournament got off to a grand start at YCC Sports Academy Ground on Wednesday. Basawan Park Cricket Academy registered a thrilling victory in the inaugural match. In another match, ESPN CC beat I Cricket Club.
The tournament was inaugurated by special guest Justice Gopal Prasad. Ad-hoc committee coordinator of Patna District Cricket Association Rajesh Kumar, former Ranji player Ashish Sinha, former MLC Vibhuti Kavi, president Dr Jyoti Prasad, Santosh Kumar (organizing committee secretary), coach Ajit Kumar, Rahul Kumar and Deepak Kumar (Patna University player) and Ranjit Singh (social worker), Rishi Raj were introduced to the players.
In the first match, Basawan Park Cricket Academy defeated Happy High School by 12 runs. Basawan Park Cricket Academy won the toss and decided to bat first. Batting first, Basawan Park Cricket Academy scored 170 runs losing all wickets in 24.2 overs. Chasing the target, Happy High School could score only 158 runs in the stipulated overs. Man of the match award was given to Abhishek (61 runs) of Basawan Park Cricket Academy.
The second match was played between ESPN Cricket Club vs I Cricket Club. I Cricket Club won the toss and invited ESPN Cricket Club to bat. Batting first, ESPN Cricket Club scored 222 runs losing 8 wickets in stipulated overs. Chasing the target, I Cricket Club were all out for 74 runs. ESPN Cricket Club won its match by 148 runs. Man of the match award was given to Abhijeet (78 runs) of ESPN Cricket Club.
