Bihar: Vigilance raid on three premises linked to registry department AIG in DA case

PATNA: The Special Vigilance Unit (SVU) of Bihar on Thursday raided three premises linked to an assistant inspector general (AIG) of land record and registry department in a disproportionate assets case.

SUV officials said Prashant Kumar, currently posted as AIG (Registration), Tirhut Division, Muzaffarpur, was facing charges of having disproportionate assets to the tune of Rs 2.068 crore. The raids were carried out simultaneously at his Alakhraj Apartment flat on Boring Road in Patna, Nai Basti Mahadeva in Siwan and also at Muzaffarpur.

During investigation, it was detected that Kumar, while holding posts as sub-registrar and registrar, had amassed huge movable and immovable assets worth Rs 2,06,80,7851, which was said to be disproportionate to his known sources of income, they said.

A case was subsequently registered against him by the SUV on November 9, the officials said, adding that the raids were conducted after the LD Court of Special Judge Vigilance, Patna, issued a search warrant.

The officials had recovered cash, jewellery and property papers during the raids. Their value was yet to assessed, the officials added.
