Patna: Abdul Rehman defeated Abhiraj Singh 11-2,11-3,11-8 to win the men’s title of the 3rd Bihar State Closed Squash Championship at the Bankipore Club courts here on Tuesday. This was Abdul’s third title win a row. In the thirds place match, Mayank Kumar defeated Koshag 11-3, 11-9, 11-6 to get the third spot.
In the women’s category, Sunny Mehta defeated Soni Kumari 11-6, 11-4, 11-1 to wear the crown. In the third place match, Pooja Dubey defeated Anamika Kumari 11-8, 11-8, 11-7 to get the third place.
In the boys U-11 final, Shivam Kumar defeated Shaurya Raj 12-10,10-12,11-6,11-3 to become the champion while in the third place match Akshat Kumar defeated Abhinav Chandra 11-3,11-4,11-4.
In the boys’ U-13 section, Aman Kesari defeated Chandan Kumar 11-8, 11-8, 12-14, 5-11, 14-12 to win the title. Ishant Raj defeated Kunal Kumar 11-4, 11-5,11-3 in the third place match.
In the girls U-13 section, Niyati defeated Sneha 11-1,11-4,11-1 while Vaishali defeated Sneha 11-3,11-3, 11-2 in the third place match.
In the boys; U-15 category, Kundan Kumar defeated Abhishek Kumar 16-14, 11-6, 7-11, 11-6 to become the champion, while Piyush Kumar defeated Aditya Rai 11-4, 11-3, 11-4 to get the third place.
In the girls’ U-17 section, Swarnima Chakraborty defeated Khushi Kashyap 11-9, 11-5, 11-7 to bag the title. Tanu Priya defeated Rishika Kumari 11-6, 11-4, 11-4 to bag the third place.
In the boys’ U-17 final match, Saransh Mishra defeated Saqib Rahmani 10-12, 6-11, 11-5, 5-11 to win the tile while Dheeraj Kumar defeated Ashutosh Kumar 11-1, 11-5, 11-1 to bag the third place.
Later at the prize-distribution function, chief guest Dr Om Prakash, secretary Bankipur Club, guest of honour, Dr Sanjay Santhalia, treasurer Bankipur Club, Elizabeth Joseph, principal DPS Hajipur gave away the prizes. Organising committee members Baijnath Prasad, Satish Kumar Singh, Avinash Dubey, Tej Narayan, Sujit Kumar Shivam Kant, Utsav Goswami and Ayesha Ahmed were present on the occasion.
