Patna: The Baidyanath Prasad Memorial Under-13 Inter-School Cricket Tournament was inaugurated on Tuesday, 10 December, at the Cricket Academy of Bihar ground. Organised under the aegis of the Baidyanath Prasad Foundation, the ceremony featured a lamp-lighting and balloon-releasing ceremony by dignitaries including Patna Mayor Sita Sahu, Bihar Cricket Association (BCA) President Rakesh Kumar Tiwari, Secretary Ziaul Afarfin, GM Admin Neeraj Rathore, Deputy Mayor Reshmi Chandravanshi, and BCA Tournament Committee Chairman Anand Mishra.
Shishir Kumar, son of the late Baidyanath Prasad and the organising president, extended a warm welcome to the guests by presenting flower bouquets and mementoes.
In the opening match, Basawan Park Cricket Academy claimed a four-wicket victory over Srikrishnapuri Cricket Academy.
Message to Young Cricketers
Addressing the young players, BCA President Rakesh Kumar Tiwari emphasised the importance of school tournaments in identifying and nurturing talent. He congratulated the organisers for hosting such a prestigious event and noted that Bihar’s cricketers are making their mark at the national level. He assured the BCA’s full commitment to supporting cricket development in the state, highlighting the government’s recent allocation of a large plot of land for a stadium.
The event was attended by Bihar Ranji team coach Pramod Kumar, committee members from Patna Municipal Corporation, and several ward councillors. Organising Secretary Santosh Tiwari expressed gratitude to the dignitaries and participants.
