Patna: Saurashtra defeated Bihar by seven wickets in the Senior Women’s One-Day Trophy match held on Sunday, 8 December, at the Air Force Complex Ground, New Delhi.
Winning the toss, Saurashtra elected to field, inviting Bihar to bat first. Bihar managed to post 175 runs for 8 wickets in their allotted 50 overs. Vishalakshi was the top scorer for Bihar, contributing 43 runs off 115 balls, including three boundaries. Captain Pragati Singh played an aggressive innings of 35 runs off 41 balls, hitting two fours and a six. Arya Seth added 29 runs off 37 balls, while Preeti scored 21 off 34 balls, including four boundaries. Apoorva Kumari contributed 16 runs from 46 balls, while other contributions came from Yashita Singh (7), Harshita (1), Tejaswi (5), and Komal P Kumari, who remained unbeaten with 8 runs.
For Saurashtra, T Dharni emerged as the most successful bowler, claiming three wickets for 34 runs. P Modhwadia, N Chavda, and Monika Virani took one wicket each, with economical performances.
In reply, Saurashtra chased down the target with ease, scoring 176 for the loss of three wickets in 48.2 overs. Umeshwari Jethwa starred with an unbeaten 59 runs off 81 balls, hitting five boundaries, while M Jadeja also remained unbeaten with 30 runs. Sifa N Karimbhai and P Kanaujia contributed 25 and 27 runs, respectively, while Ridhi Ruparel added 25 to the tally.
For Bihar, Apoorva Kumari was the pick of the bowlers, taking 2 wickets for 33 runs in her 10-over spell. Pragati Singh claimed 1 wicket for 30 runs in 6 overs. Preeti Priya delivered a highly economical spell, conceding just 33 runs in 10 overs, while Preeti Kumari, Tejaswi, and Arya Seth bowled accurately but without success.
Saurashtra secured the full four points for their victory. Umeshwari Jethwa was adjudged Player of the Match for her match-winning performance.
Bihar’s next match is scheduled against Uttar Pradesh on 12 December.
