Patna: The CK Nayudu Trophy match between Hyderabad and Bihar, which began on October 13 at Moinul Haq Stadium, concluded within three days, with Hyderabad claiming a 10-wicket victory. Hyderabad elected to bat first after winning the toss, putting up a solid total of 349 runs. In response, Bihar struggled in their first innings, being bowled out for just 150 runs, resulting in a follow-on.

In their second innings, Bihar managed to avoid an innings defeat, thanks to a remarkable knock of 87 runs by Shashank Upadhyay, which helped the team reach 228 runs. However, Hyderabad required only 30 runs for victory, which they comfortably achieved, scoring 33 without losing any wickets. Openers Aman and Jairam remained unbeaten with scores of 15 and 18, respectively.

Shashank Upadhyay of Bihar 87 runs

At the end of the second day, Bihar were in a precarious position at 131 for 8, needing another 68 runs to avoid an innings defeat. A crucial ninth-wicket partnership of 87 runs off 233 balls between Shashank Upadhyay and Anup Kumar proved vital in saving Bihar from that fate. Anup Kumar was eventually dismissed for 29 runs.

Hyderabad’s Nitin Sai delivered an outstanding performance, taking six wickets in Bihar’s first innings and seven in the second. Bihar’s next fixture is scheduled against Madhya Pradesh in Indore, starting on 20 October.
