Patna Clinches Overall Championship at Bihar State School Girls Athletics

Patna: Patna dominated the Bihar State Inter-District School Girls Athletics Championship, securing the overall title with a total of 86 points, including 9 gold, 12 silver, and 5 bronze medals. The Eklavya Training Centre team finished as runner-up with 44 points, claiming 5 gold, 5 silver, and 4 bronze medals.

The four-day event, held at Patliputra Sports Complex, was organised by the District Administration, Patna, under the aegis of the Bihar Sports Department and the Bihar State Sports Authority. Patna also secured victory in the Girls Under-19 Team Championship with 38 points (5 gold, 4 silver, 1 bronze). Gaya came in second with 32 points (4 gold, 3 silver, 3 bronze).

In the Girls Under-17 category, Siwan claimed the championship with 33 points (6 gold, 1 silver), while Patna finished as runner-up with 31 points (2 gold, 6 silver, 3 bronze). The West Champaran team triumphed in the Girls Under-14 Team Championship, earning 27 points (3 gold, 3 silver, 3 bronze), with the Eklavya Training Centre team taking the runner-up spot with 19 points (2 gold, 3 silver).

At the prize distribution ceremony, chief guest Lokesh Kumar Jha, District Public Relations Officer, Patna, presented trophies, medals, and certificates to the winners. Om Prakash, District Sports Officer, Patna and Organising Secretary, welcomed the guests, offering them green plants and souvenirs. Abhishek Kumar, N.I.S. Trainer and Physical Education Teacher at Government Higher Secondary School, Panal, Patna, conducted the event.

Om Prakash announced that the State-Level Inter-District School Boys Under-17 Athletics Championship would commence from Sunday at the same venue. Around 500 athletes, trainers, and managers from 38 districts, along with the Eklavya Training Centre, are expected to participate. Twenty technical officials have been appointed by the Bihar State Sports Authority to oversee the championship.
