Jharkhand emerge champs; Bihar runners-up in 33rd East Zone Athletics Championships

Patna: Jharkhand emerged overall champions with 450 points while hosts Bihar finished runners-up with 433 points in the The 33rd East Zone Junior National Athletics Championship 2022 that concluded on Monday evening at Patliputra Sports Complex here.

Bihar government’s home secretary Amir Subhani was the chief guest at the closing function. Bihar State Sports Authority director general Raveendran Sankaran and Salim Parvez, president, Bihar Athletics Association were present at the prize-distribution function as special guests. The three-day meet was organised by Bihar Athletics Association and Bihar State Sports Authority under the aegis of Athletics Federation of India.

Bihar finished the campaign with 18 gold, 24 silver and 31 bronze medals. A total of 73 medals altogether.

West Bengal emerged winners in the girls U-14 category and Bihar finished the runners-up. Bihar became the winners in the boys’ under-14 category and Jharkhand finished the runners-up.

Jharkhand were the winners in the boys’ under-16 category and Bihar were the runners-up. West Bengal were the winners in the girls’ U-16 category while Jharkhand were the runners-up.
