Patna: Patna’s Meteorological Centre topped the country in terms of accurate weather forecasting. The weather forecast here is the most accurate.
For this, the centre has been honoured with the Best Meteorological Centre Award at the country level for the year 2023.
On the eve of World Meteorological Day, a programme was organised at the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) in New Delhi. In this, the Meteorological Centre based in Patna was given the title of ‘Best Performing Meteorological Centre’ in the country for the year 2023.
Senior scientist Ashish Kumar Singh said that the Patna Meteorological Observatory was started in 1867 by the British Corps of Engineering. This centre has developed a lot in the last few years. Since being shifted to Civil Aerodrome Patna in 1949 and upgraded as a Meteorological Centre in 1974, it has been continuously moving on the path of excellence.
