Rain Spoils Second day’s Matches at Khelo India Women’s Kho-Kho League

Lakhisarai: The second day’s matches of the Khelo India East and North-East Zone Sub Junior and Junior National Women’s Kho-Kho League being held at the Sky Vision Public School in collaboration with the Union Sports Ministry and Sports Authority of India, hosted by the Kho-Kho Association of Bihar under the banner of the Kho-Kho Federation of India were hit hard by rain. Due to intermittent rain, only two matches were played on the second day of the championship. One match was played on the first day.

In the match played on the first day, host Bihar suffered defeat against Bengal in the sub-junior category. Two matches were played late in the evening on the second day. Bengal registered its second consecutive win by defeating Jharkhand in the sub-junior category. The third match was played in the junior category in which Bengal defeated Assam.

General Secretary of Kho-Kho Association of Bihar, Neeraj Kumar Pappu said that the match will be played from morning on the third and final day. He said that the matches have definitely been affected due to bad weather.

On the second day, Someshwar Rao Chavan, in-charge of Sports Authority of India, Patna, Manish Jaiswal of SAI who had come as observers in this championship on behalf of Kho-Kho Association of Bihar, were honoured by the association’s general secretary Neeraj Kumar Pappu by giving them a memento.

On the second day in the morning, Arjun Awardee Nasreen Shaikh, captain of the Indian women’s Kho-Kho team, met the children of the SKy Vision School and encouraged the children and inspired them to take up sports.
