Bihar’s Aadya Shree and Ryan Mohammad shoot into lead

Patna: After the fifth round, on the third day of the 12th National School Chess Championship 2024, being organized under the joint auspices of Bihar Sports Authority and Bihar Chess Association, Aadya Shree of Bihar surged into the lead in Under 13 Girls and former National Champion Ryan Mohammad of Bihar also shot into the lead in Under 13 Open section on Thursday.

Today, the main attraction during the championships was India’s famous Grandmaster Devendu Barua, who was the chief guest, and during this, the trophy to be distributed among the winning players was unveiled by Raveendran Sankaran, Director General of Bihar State Sports Authority and Baura jointly.

Under 17 open

Playing with white pieces on the first board, Sadhu Sharan R of Tamil Nadu defeated Virbhadra Singh Gadhvi of Gujarat in Nimjo Indian Defence.

Under 17 girls

Playing with white pieces on the first board, Sindhu Sri K of Tamil Nadu defeated Kasturi Bhai R of Andaman and Nicobar in Sicilian defence.

Under 15 open

Playing with white pieces on the first board, Arnav Agarwal of Uttar Pradesh defeated Krishna Muthu Paliniappan of Karnataka in the Sicilian Defence.

Under 15 girls

Playing with white pieces on the first board, Aadya Gupta of Delhi forced Myra Singh of Delhi to tie the game in Perk defence.

Under 13 open

Playing with white on the first board, Vandan Alankar Sawai of Delhi defeated Nimai Agarwal of Haryana with Rue Lopez.

Under 13 girls

Playing with white pieces on the first board, Samanthi Sri S of Tamil Nadu held Nivedita V C of Tamil Nadu to a draw.

Under 11 open

Playing with White pieces on the first board, Andala Mala Hemal Varshan of Andhra Pradesh defeated Manish Mishra of Odisha in the Scillian Open ski Variation.

Under 11 girls

Playing with white pieces on the first board, Pratithi Bordoloi of Karnataka forced Maharashtra’s Pal Vedika to hold on to a draw by playing the Scillian opening.

Under 9 open

Playing with white pieces on the first board, Oshik Mandal of West Bengal caused a big upset over Arit Kapil of Delhi by playing the Open ski Variation Sicilian Defence.

Under 9 girls

Playing with white pieces on the first board, DV Vijesh of Gujarat defeated Ashvi Singh of Gujarat by trapping her in the English opening.

Under 7 open

Playing with white pieces on the first board, Stephen Andrews of Tamil Nadu caused an upset by defeating Shivaay Singh of Uttar Pradesh in the English opening.

Under 7 girls

Playing with white pieces on the first board, Sukriti Riya S of Tamil Nadu defeated Anvi Deepak Heing of Maharashtra in Petroff.
