Punjab FC aim for a victory against Mumbai City to keep knockout place alive

Bhubaneswar: Punjab FC (PFC) will aim for a victory against Mumbai City FC to keep their knockout chances alive in Group C of the Kalinga Super Cup 2024 which will be played here at the Kalinga Stadium. The match is scheduled to kick-off at 7:30 pm. PFC had shared spoils in the first group match against Chennaiyin FC while Mumbai City had scrapped through for a victory against Gokulam Kerala FC in their first match.

PFC will miss Head Coach Staikos Vergetis in the sidelines as he is suspended for receiving a red card in the match against Chennaiyin. The Shers will also miss the services of midfielder Amarjit Singh Kiyam who also received his marching orders in the first half of the match.

Speaking ahead of the match, PFC Assistant Coach Dimitrios Kakkos said, “Mumbai City will present a tough challenge for us in tomorrow’s game as they have a really good side.  Our boys did an excellent job in the last game in executing the plan of the game, but we need to be more clinical in front of the goals in the upcoming matches and to not drop points from winning positions”.

Mumbai City FC are on top of the table with three points while Punjab FC have one point.
