UP Chief Minister holds review meeting for effective monitoring of efforts to achieve Sustainable Development Goals

Lucknow: Uttar Pardesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath held a review meeting on Wednesday for effective monitoring of efforts being made to achieve Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Reiterating the state’s commitment towards SDGs, the Chief Minister provided necessary directions to all concerned departments.

● The Chief Minister said that the Sustainable Development Goals are mainly based on the principle of ‘Five Ps’ of English (People, Prosperity, Peace, Partnership and Planet). The government is committed to achieving the targets set under the Sustainable Development Goals in social, economic and environmental areas by the year 2030.

● The Chief Minister expressed satisfaction with the progress made by the state in the identified social, economic, and environmental areas under the framework of Sustainable Development Goals.

● The Chief Minister stated that the state has made remarkable progress in alleviating poverty, one of the important Sustainable Development Goals, with a record 3.43 crore people being lifted out of multidimensional poverty. The state government has extended maximum benefits to beneficiaries under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana and the Mukhyamantri Jan Arogya Yojana. The state government is committed to providing tap water supply to every household by the year 2024. Social security is being provided to workers associated with micro, small, and medium enterprises by the state government. The One District One Product (ODOP) scheme has been implemented since 2018 to boost exports, and positive results are being observed.

● The Chief Minister directed that the data of the actual progress of the state should be shared with various ministries of the Indian government and NITI Aayog, Government of India.

● The Chief Minister also directed that regular monitoring should be done by the concerned departments to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals Agenda-2030.

● The Chief Minister said that while improving the fields of medicine, health and nutrition, more employment should be provided in the manufacturing sector through micro, small and medium industries. Work should be done in mission mode by the concerned departments to increase ground water recharge while reducing ground water exploitation.

● The Chief Minister stated that 100 percent enrollment of children in schools in the 15-year age group should be ensured in the state. More efforts should be ensured to increase enrollment in higher education.

● The Chief Minister said that various programs are being run in the state for women empowerment. More efforts should be made to increase the participation of women from all sections and fields.
