Kilkari boys and Vaishali girls win Bihar state junior ball badminton titles

Patna: In the final match of the 29th Bihar State Junior Ball Badminton Championship being played at Maharaj Lakshmeshwar Singh College, Sarisabpahi Pandaul (Madhubani), Kilkari Patna defeated Begusarai 35-26,35-33 to win boys’ title while Vaishali won the girls’ title defeating Siwan y 35-28,35-28.

National players Santu Maharaj, Nitin Kumar, Shashikant, Kundan Kumar, Monu Kumar played well for Kilkari while Chhotu Kumar, Shashank Kumar, Gulshan Kumar performed well for Begusarai. In the girls’ category, captain and national players Vandana Kumari, Muskaan Kumari, Nidhi Kumari, Srishti Kumari, Aanchal Kumari dished out their best for Vaishali and national players Kajal Kumari, Geeta Kumari, Anu Kumari, Priya Kumari played well for Siwan.

Naugachhia and Siwan jointly got the third position in the boys category and Darbhanga and Begusarai in the girls category. The award for the best player of the championship in the boys’ category was given to Nitin Kumar of Kilkari and in the girls’ category to Muskan Kumari of Vaishali.

Earlier, In the first semi-final of the boys’ category, Kilkari Patna defeated last year’s winners Naugachhia 35-27,35-29 and in the second semi-final, Begusarai defeated Siwan 35-18,35-27.

In the first semi-final of the girls’ section, Vaishali defeated Darbhanga 35-18,35-22 and in the second semi-final, Siwan defeated Begusarai 35-20,24-35,35-31.

Social worker and youth icon Santosh Jha ‘Belahi’, General Secretary of Nepal Ball Badminton Federation Sanjay Kumar Yadav, Secretary of Bihar Ball Badminton Association Gouri Shankar, Regional Manager of Uttar Bihar Gramin Bank Madhubani Pankaj Nayan, Environment Officer Madhubani Manoj Kumar  and Zilla Parishad member Pandaul Pintu Mishra gave away the prizes.  Addressing the players and sports lovers, General Secretary of Nepal Ball Badminton Federation, Sanjay Kumar Yadav said that work is being done to organise SAF Games Ball Badminton Championship (men and women) in Nepal. If everything goes well then it will be organised in the month of April-May. Men and women teams from India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Bhutan and host Nepal will participate.

Santosh Kumar Sharma, Secretary, Madhubani District Ball Badminton Association welcomed the guests. The stage was anchored by physical education teacher Ravindra Kumar Singh. Deepak Singh Kashyap, chairman of the technical committee, Vikas Kumar, convener of the referee board, Rambahadur Chaudhary, Dr. Sanjeev Jha, selector Deepak Prakash Ranjan, Badal Kumar, technical officials Rakesh Ranjan, Avinash Kumar, Rahul Kumar and many sports lovers were present on the occasion.
