Patna: The 9th Bihar State Sambo Championship began on Thursday at the Indoor Stadium of Gaya Sports Council. Organized under the aegis of Sambo Association of Bihar, this tournament was inaugurated by Gaya’s Senior Superintendent of Police Ashish Bharti. General Secretary of the Sambo Association of Bihar Vinay Kumar Singh and other officials were present on the occasion.
Five hundred players from 28 districts are participating in this tournament. In the first day’s competition, players from Katihar and Bhagalpur performed brilliantly, while Aurangabad also made its presence felt by winning gold. Patna players got silver.
In Sub Junior 53 kg Sports Sambo, Aamir Kumar of Bhagalpur, Aditya and Devraj of Katihar, Abhishek of Katihar in 46 kg, Akash, Abhishek Kumar of Bhagalpur, Vikas of Katihar in 58 kg, Aditya Raj of Patna, Abhinav Mukherjee of Bhagalpur, 71 Ashish Ranjan of Katihar in kg, Mohit of Aurangabad, Saurav of Bhagalpur in 30 kg of Cadet, Ganesh, Saksham of Katihar, Prince of Bhagalpur in 46 kg, Piyush of Patna, Karna of Bhagalpur, Ankit Tanti of Bhagalpur in 48 kg, Patna. Shubham, Yuvraj of Bhagalpur, Abhishek of Bhagalpur in 53 kg, Abhinav Suman of Patna, Kumar Prince of Saran won gold, silver and bronze medals respectively.
