Patna: The much-anticipated 38th edition of the All India Sukhdeo Narain Memorial Inter-School Cricket Tournament, one of the state’s most prestigious events, has been announced. With the slogan “A Tree for the Nation,” the tournament will be held on the turf wicket of Jagjivan Stadium, starting from 20th October. The announcement was made by Bijaoy Kumar Narain Chunnu, the Chief Executive of the organising committee.
Chunnu informed that 14 teams had applied for entry into this year’s tournament, but only 8 teams were selected to participate. The teams include Dony Polo Public School, Jesus & Mary Academy, New BD Public School, Divine International School, Gravity High School, Raj Shiksha Niketan, SDV Public School, and Bihar Cambridge Public School.
The matches will follow a league-cum-knockout format with T20 rules. In a first for the tournament, the two winning teams from the “Super Semi-Finals” will progress directly to the finals. Matches will be held in two shifts, with the first match from 7:30 am to 10:30 am and the second from 11:30 am to 2:45 pm. Teams arriving late will face a penalty, with 1 over deducted for every 4 minutes of delay.
The six participating teams have been divided into two pools:
- Pool A: Dony Polo Public School, Jesus & Mary Academy, New BD Public School.
- Pool B: Divine Valley International School, Gravity High School, Raj Shiksha Niketan.
Last year’s semi-finalists, SDV Public School and Bihar Cambridge Public School, have been given direct entry to the Super Semi-Finals. Chunnu also highlighted that all players must present their original Aadhaar cards to participate.
