Patna: Bihar women netball team put up a brave fight before losing the match 49-51 against Punjab in the 36th National Games netball event in Ahmedabad on Thursday.
After losing the first two quarters, the Bihar team came back to win the subsequent two quarters but failed to win the match. Now Bihar will take on Karnataka in the third place match to be held tomorrow Earlier, Haryana defeated Karnataka to secure their place in the final.
In the Bihar vs Punjab match, Punjab beat Bihar 13-11 in the first quarter, 11-8 in the second quarter. In the third quarter, Bihar beat Punjab 13-12 and in the fourth quarter, Bihar beat Punjab 17-15.
Mixed day for Bihar in lawn bowls: In the lawn bowls event of the 36th National Games being held in Gujarat, three Bihar played three matches have been played so far. Bihar lost two matches and won one match while one match ended in a draw.
Odisha beat Bihar 17-12 in lawn bowls pairs open men’s category. Delhi beat Bihar 20-9 in the four open women’s category. The match played between Bihar and Delhi in triple open men’s section ended in a 15-15 draw.
Bihar women’s rugby team in semi-finals: Bihar women’s rugby team booked its berth in the semi-finals of the 36th National Games rugby event. Now, Bihar will face Odisha in the semi-finals. The semi-final match will be played on September 30
Earlier, Bihar lost to Maharashtra in the last league match of Pool ‘A’ played on Thursday. Maharashtra beat Bihar 24-0 (19-0 in the first half and 5-0 in the second half). This defeat did not affect Bihar’s progress in the knockout round 1.
Bihar beat Kerala 21-0 in knockout round-1. In the first half, Bihar defeated Kerala by 14-0 and in the second half by 7-0. In the knockout round-1, all the teams had to play the match. In the knockout rounds, Delhi beat West Bengal 36-0, Maharashtra beat Chandigarh 26-5, Odisha beat Gujarat 74-0 to enter semi-finals.
