Patna: Bihar players took part in six events on Wednesday as part of the lawn bowls competition of the 36th National Games being held in Gujarat. Bihar women won only one match while suffered defeat in the five matches.
In the law bowls pairs, Delhi beat Bihar 33-9. In singles women’s open, Sarita Tirkey of Jharkhand defeated Anamika Kumari of Bihar 21-10. Jharkhand also beat Bihar 21-7 in triple men’s open. Bihar defeated Odisha 21-7 in the women’s fours open. Jharkhand beat Bihar 26-7 in pairs open men’s. Delhi’s Shaista Sharma defeated Bihar’s Anamika Kumari 21-8 in singles women’s open.
Bihar lose to Maharashtra in women’s Kabaddi: Bihar team lost to Maharashtra 36-20 in their final league of women’s kabaddi event of 36th national game being held in Gujarat. In the first half of this match, the players of Bihar were given a tough fight but in the second half they looked battered. In the first half, Bihar’s team was behind Maharashtra by just 1 point. The score of the first half was 15-14 in favuor of Maharashtra. In the second half, Maharashtra defeated Bihar 21-6.
Bihar, playing in Pool A, won just one of their three league matches. They defeated only Gujarat while lost to Himachal Pradesh and Maharashtra. By topping this pool, Maharashtra and second place Himachal Pradesh reached the semifinals. Himachal Pradesh beat Gujarat 47-16 in their last league match.
