Patna: The Additional Chief Secretary of the Sports Department of Bihar held an important review meeting today with all district sports officers across the state. The meeting focused on a comprehensive assessment of the ongoing efforts for the development of sports infrastructure and expansion of sports activities in Bihar.
In terms of progress, out of Bihar’s 534 blocks, outdoor stadiums have been fully constructed and are available for use in 252 blocks. Stadium construction is in the final stage in 122 blocks, while the work is in progress in 160 blocks. The department has issued clear instructions to ensure active use of the completed stadiums by citizens and school students to promote a sports culture across the state.
The Additional Chief Secretary emphasised that the government’s top priority is to make land available for outdoor stadiums in every block, ensuring better sports opportunities for youth in both rural and urban areas.
District sports officers were instructed to visit the blocks in their respective regions every week and personally monitor the progress of stadium construction. They were also asked to engage with representatives of the local civil society and schools to ensure optimal use of the outdoor stadiums. The Additional Chief Secretary particularly stressed that the stadiums should not remain limited to construction alone but must serve as active venues where students and local residents participate regularly in sports activities.
During the meeting, the district sports officers of Katihar, Purnia, and Buxar were specially commended for their successful management of local sports activities and their proactive roles. Officers from other districts have also been directed to work diligently and actively for the development of sports infrastructure and the promotion of sporting activities in the state. The Sports Department of the Government of Bihar remains committed to empowering the youth of the state through sports.
